Mark Martins, because that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language. Desmosedici 941 204 1 Registered Member Desmosedici 941 204 1 Apr 17, 2018 4 2018-04-17T02:20 After 13 sec. In fact, I already have been playing various version for which I got tablature of Doc Watsons playing. ![]() I am playing Jerry Reed and Big Bill Broonzy songs, and all have drive. Somehow the Doc Watson version of Deep River blues never got swing, when I played it. I guess partially its my fault (I will review my right hand) and partially it is because Doc was not a blues or Jazz player. The TE version is just great Tony Done 5,640 1,546 1 Registered Member Tony Done 5,640 1,546 1 Apr 17, 2018 5 2018-04-17T03:15 Des, Ive had a long term interest in Docs version of that song, so I know the foundations. I dont know if you have noticed, but the early version is a lot more difficult (at least I think so) than the later one, insofar as he does a very fast slide in the first couple of bars, whereas he does a bend in the newer version. In think he made have filed the early version in the too-hard basket as he got older.:) Tony Done. I didnt realize the comments about Doc not being a jazz or swing player was a joke until I read the comment that his earlier version was too hard for him after he he got older. I have my reservations too, but no matter what I dont like about his style, he is a hell of a player. Here you go, it may still be a recording fitted to the video afterwards, but clearly his playing is impressive: Btw, Tommy is so kind to explain to us where his skills come from: he simple practices more than 6 hours a day. That is not uncommon among classical musicians, but less common in other branches of music.
